The upcoming sedan Peugeot 508 is a large family saloon car. It was first launched in 2010 in global market; however, Indian entry is slated in the Auto Expo 2012. Being a marquee of PSA Peugeot Citroen, Peugeot shares the platform with Citroen C5 and other features with Citroen. Peugeot 508 has been voted as the Best New Car of 2011 at the Fleet World Honours 2011.
Peugeot 508 will be the first car by the company in India. With the sedan, the company will make its entry in the luxury car segment. Although, Peugeot came to India earlier also in association with Premier and brought Peugeot 307 model, the car maker had to leave due to labor issues in some time. This time around the company is coming alone and will hit bang-on. The French carmaker Peugeot has signed an agreement with the Gujarat government to invest Rs 4,000 crore in setting up a plant in the State. The car manufacturer views India as one of the most important and dynamic markets in the world and foresees to become the third largest automotive market by 2020. It is a possibility that till the facility is completely ready; the auto major could bring in the Peugeot 508 as a completely built Unit (CBU) in India.
Superb styling, state-of-the-art technology and impressive interiors are the three factors that speak out the most in Peugeot 508. Internationally, Peugeot 508 is available in sedan and Station Wagon body types and in Access, SR, Active, Allure and GT models. In India, only the sedan models are expected to arrive.
Juxtaposed with its predecessors such as Peugeot 407 and Peugeot 607, this Peugeot sedan takes on a new shape and styling. The front appearance is quite elegant signifying refinement as opposed to the much sporty design of the 407 and 607. The front is also adorned by a new and shrunken front grille on the radiator besides the daytime lights. The front grill also has chrome garnishing. The B-pillars of the car have been blacked out throwing a coupe-like impression. The tail lights have a three row LED assembly that resembles a paw. There are twin exhausts at the rear giving it the ultimate sporty look.

Exteriors of Peugeot 508 are breath-taking. The front seems to be inspired from Audi design philosophy. At the front, the 508 illustrates the brand’s evolving aesthetic codes with a unique grill rendered in a fluidic design and finely worked headlights with their feline look. The bonnet has chrome Peugeot badge over it. The saloon is fitted with new efficiency optic Bi—Xenon directional headlamps and LED lighting tubes give the 508 an original visual signature. A 1.6 liter turbocharged petrol motor can also make it to India. The fuel tank capacity is 72 liters.
